“So overrated”, “Dreadful the whole match” – Lots of Arsenal fans slam attacker

After impressing on loan at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim last season, Reiss Nelson would have hoped that his return to Arsenal in the summer would have seen him really kick-on and nail down a place in the first-team.

The England youth international racked up 29 appearances across all competitions for the German side last year, netting seven times and providing one assist too. But this campaign has seen his game-time be incredibly limited, playing on just five occasions in the Premier League – and that too for a total of only 153 minutes.

But after being given a chance to start from the off against Everton on Saturday afternoon, Nelson’s day didn’t quite go to plan. As per Sofascore, he had no shots on goal whatsoever, provided just one key pass and lost possession 18 times – the most of any Arsenal player on the pitch.

And after seeing his performance, fans of the north London side flooded to voice their thoughts on the winger, with a few calling him over-rated.

Some Gunners supporter took particular aim at Nelson’s poor quality from set-pieces, with one fan in particular declaring that he should be never taking them again.

Some Arsenal fans were also critical of how he managed to stay on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, with one supporter questioning why Nicolas Pepe hadn’t come on to replace him.

Despite his loan spell away at Hoffeinheim last season, Nelson has only recently just turned 20. The winger has plenty of time on his side, and with his team overall lacking confidence, it’s difficult not to feel sympathy for his performance on Saturday afternoon. If Mikel Arteta can inspire a turnaround, the starlet may begin to feel the confidence flow through him once more.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been told to sell this big-money star by Tony Cascarino.
