Carlton Cole and Declan Rice respond to former West Ham man’s landmark Instagram post

Out with the old and in with the new at Liverpool.

In a demonstration of just how efficient the football industry is (at times), the Reds discarded one benchwarmer, Simon Mignolet, and within hours had recruited another, Adrian.

The 32-year-old played 150 times for the Hammers since joining from Real Betis in 2013 but found appearances hard to come by when arguably the Premier League’s most criminally underrated stopper, Lukasz Fabianski, moved to the capital to keep sticks for Manuel Pellegrini.

Clearly a popular character amongst his teammates, the Spaniard was lathered in farewell and good luck messages when he announced his move on Instagram.

Declan Rice and Carlton Cole were amongst those to send messages:

Adrian will challenge Golden Glove winner Alisson for a starting berth next season and has already dedicated himself to making Klopp’s job of selecting his no.1 as difficult as possible.
